Sorry for the bad translation :

“A collective of international lawyer lodged on Tuesday in Germany against the ex-secretary in the Defence American Donald Rumsfeld whom they accuse of having justified the use of the torture against prisoners in Iraq and to Guantanamo, announced one of the lawyers.
Besides Mr Rumsfeld, this complaint concerns also five jurists of the administration Bush, among whom current Minister of Justice, Alberto Gonzales, in his quality of the former councillor of the White House, who supplied the legal arguments in the reproduction of the techniques of interrogation.”

A complaint lodged only a few days after his dismissal.

Will Bush meet the same fate at the end of his mandate?

Will the Americans understand at last that they are not over the international laws?

"we don't think we should be a lone ranger going against the rest of the world"

I'm really pleased to read that.
"the Americans" was addressed to all these persons here who have comments disdaining the rest of the world.

The only place Bush will stand trial is in the court of public opinion.

Don't worry, soon Congress will start senate and house investigations of the dealings of the white house during the past six years. Possible impeachment and removal will follow. He could stand trial for any accusations afterward unless given a pardon like Tricky Dick Nixon was given.

Probably not.

Someone should hold the Bush administration up to scrutiny and punish them for misdeeds, but what nation outside the U.S. has the power to make that happen? The only nation that can bring these guys down is the U.S. itself, and we've started by taking away the rubber stamp Congress he's had up til now.

And don't lump Americans all in with Bush in his flouting of international law. Most of us DISAGREE with the way he's been directing our country; we don't think we should be a lone ranger going against the rest of the world; and we want our troops out of a situation that Bush shouldn't have sent them into. He's made several horrific decisions and we want him held accountable.

If it makes you feel any better, Bush thinks he's above his own country's laws, not just yours.....

The definition of a tragedy = A bus load of lawyers goes over a cliff, and there's three empty seats.

What a bunch of bovine excrement. There were no crimes committed and President Bush will be looked on favorably by history. There will be no prosecutions of Rumsfedl or Gonzales because the leadesrs of your so-called enlightened nations will not want to face similar fates because their hands aren't exactly the cleanest. You can shove your international laws where the Sun don't shine.

What do you call a thousand dead international lawyers at the bottom of the Atlantic?

A slow start.

If we charge Bush with war crimes, why not charge leaders of Cuba, Sudan, China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Syria, all of whose crimes are infinitely worse than anything Bush has done?

There is always some idiot somewhere that will try to pull some stunt like that. That doesn't make them anywhere near right.
I can write a complaint against virtually anyone in the world I don't agree with, but that doesn't mean they actually committed any crimes.
It's all public relations by the terrorists and the people trying to appease the terrorists.
I say we just hand those attorneys over to the Taliban & let them negotiate to their hearts content.

Many countries would be within their rights to make the US President account for the administrations decisions and actions as they relate to international laws.

Bush will place the blame on the other, just as he is doing now. Sadam is in jail for terrorism, when they could find WMD's. Then it was for Iraqui Independence, with the claims that Sadam killed his own people. Bush is sending troops to Iraq to be killed for a meaningless war. Bush will not be held accountable for his terrorism to our troops and other countries. He will just have to burn in hell. He is a true devil; murderous, deceptive, and a liar, greedy, and power hungry, haughty and over confident. It is amazing that most of American stand for this crap.

It is a wishfull thinking, but if it happens then teh USA future Presidents will not dare to spoil the World peace. USA is teh only country who used Atomic Bombs, only country who used depleted Uranium in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is teh only country whose Secretary of Defense lied in the UN Security council that Iraq had Chemical Weapons to attack Iraq, and only country who abducted a President of a country (Panama) to extend its rule in pananma.

Its doubtful that the US governement will apply the international rules that it has supported to it self, Bush will evade this like he did the War in Viet Nam

There's no doubt that world is aware of US atrocities. That the only regime that blocks measures against apartheid regime of Israel is US. But taking worldwide action is necessary before this monster turn completely against it's own citizens.
