I live in Utah, I'm Mormon, I know all the rules, regulations, laws, commandments, living standards, principles, guidelines, etc., etc., that this church has and being married to more than one person IS WRONG, DISGUSTING, AGAINST THE LAW AND NOT PROHIBITED. Especially in my church!

You guys have A LOT of searching to do!
come to Utah and see for yourself, idiots.

It's disgusting to me. I would never be happy in a marriage that I'd have to share my sweeheart with another woman! He's perverted in my mind to be sleeping with more than one woman. That's just my perspective.
The Mormon church, or actually, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does not support polygamy, but they will not turn away anybody interested in going to their meetings.
I am not trying to preach here or make myself look "holier than thou" at all!! I am merely trying to straighten out a bad rep that people have about "Mormon's". Give me a break!

To the one who used to be a Mormon and is a returned missionary, blah blah blah. Hey dude, I am too, and I am sealed in the temple for time and Eternity, and the church is NOT going to have plural marriage again, and what if it does? If it does it will ONLY be because God said to do it, not cuz some horny old guy said so.

And by the way, YOU ARE ANTI-MORMON. duh....
if you preach against the doctrine of another religion or belief then you are anti whatever it is.

I've been through the temple, been on a mission, am currently sealed in the temple, and I trust God and I trust his truth and I trust those he has called to act in His name here on earth. Sorry you have been so decieved....
and don't prejudge me, because you have NO IDEA where I've been, what I've been through with the church, etc., and what SACRED experiences I have had.
You have been decieved and blinded by pride and by Satan.

"self-righteous"? Do you guys even know what that means?
The fact is, those members who actually go to church and study the scriptures and know more than the average "joe" get harassed because they are active and study and know more about the gospel and those who harass them and judge them and point fingers and scream "self-righteous" have superiority complexes and also don't like to feel "one-upped" cuz they don't know any thing about the gospel. The church isn't about everyone doing everything for you, it's about what you can do to help others, and it's about how you can grow through studying, pondering, praying and serving. Instead of getting offended by other people, try looking at what you need to be doing differently in your life. The people are not true, the gospel is, and if you base your Salvation on somebody else's opinion or knowledge, then you're headed in the wrong way, and it's nobody else's fault but your own.

Well, it is nice to see someone stand up for monogamy. I liked your answer and perhaps I am being judgmental but I have to admit religion and family values play a factor. Nobody has made an issue out of getting married early in that they're better because they are prettier. That is a strange reason to think it is better to get married at a young age, though men do notice pretty girls more.

To be fairer, I hope they're happy but the feeling seems to be with some people that they are not. There is nothing wrong with having several children and being a housewife if that is what you desire and you enjoy it.

While the LDS church is "officially" against plural marriage, you will, in the Temple ceremony, have to "bow your head and say YES" to the idea that, at whatever point the Church deems appropriate, have to accept and follow that precept. It was abolished in the mid-1800's so that Utah could gain Statehood, but will be re-instituted at some nondescript point in the future. Along with this, even today if a man is married in the Temple, is divorced and then decides to re-marry, unless he recieves a "Temple divorce", has to have the OK of the ex-wife to marry again in the Temple, being sealed to both women for-you'll know this phrase-"Time and All Eternity". Essentially, if you go through the Temple, you agree to abide by the law of Polygamy whenever the Church decides that it's OK to do so.

Hey, sister.... whatever, i am sure your taking the wrong approach here. while we do not believe in plural marriages, i think a peaceful approach is better than a confrontational approach. and, prohibited and, it is prohibited. to prohibit is to "stop with authority". our church authorities have stopped it. just, settle down the world will know the truth in due time, no need to go worrying about bias opinions based upon nothing.

Its people like yourself that give the Church a bad name, fair play for feeling like you needed to say something but it can be done in a more peaceful approach. Its because of self righteous people like you why I and many others become less active.

I don't no about Mormons but if man explains himself honestly that hes interested in having more then one wife, then that should be perfectly alright that doesn't mean a woman should agree but more or less understand his interests and desires, its all apart of getting to know some 1.

I can't believe your so shallow thinking your so holy & rightous. Many regions in the world practice having more than one spouse. America is just one of the few countries that do not condone this pratice. I don't believe in it but to each his own, live and let live. God will be the judge and jury on judgement day.

You have just broadcasted your ignorance on the internet...do you know you have been deceived?

Polygamy is Mormon scripture and doctrine: Doctrine and coventantents Section 132. The Mormon god is a polygamist, the Mormon Jesus is a polygamist. Polygamous marriage is basically essential to Mormon theology. Polygamy is regarded almost as the most central, highest revelation to Joseph Smith and a necessary prerequisite for complete Mormon salvation.

Because there are so many statements in Mormon church literature in praise of polygamy, statements from Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, Wilford Woodruff, and Joseph F. Smith, among others, stating that polygamy is necessary for the highest salvation, many present-day Mormons expect to be polygamists in the next life.

Brigham Young made this uncompromising statement on August 19, 1866: "The only men who become Gods, even the Sons of God, are those who enter into polygamy." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 11, page 269) so if you want to become a god one day you must violate the already given law of God now. "- his fifty wives and fifty children attest to the fact of his practicing what he preached!

Jedediah M. Grant, Second Counselor to Brigham Young the Second Prophet of the LDS Church:

"Celsus was a heathen philosopher; and what does he say upon the subject of Christ and his Apostles, and their belief? He says, the 'grand reason why the Gentiles and philosophers of his school persecuted Jesus Christ, was because He had so many wives; there were Elizabeth, and Mary, and a host of others that followed Him.' After Jesus went from the stage of action, the Apostles followed the example of their master. . . The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, casing his crucifixion, was evidently based on polygamy,. . .a belief in the doctrine of plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus, and his followers. We might almost think they were 'Mormons' " (Journal of Discourses, Vol 1. ppl 345-346)

Mormon Apostle Orson Hyde made these statements:

"It will be borne in mind that once on a time, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; . . .no less a person than Jesus Christ was married on that occasion. If he was never married, his intimacy with Mary and Martha, and the other Mary also whom Jesus loved, must have been highly unbecoming and improper to say the least of it."
"I will venture to say that if Jesus Christ were now to pass thought the most pious countries in Christendom with a train of women, such as used to follow him, . . .he would be mobbed, tarred, and feathered, and rode, not on as ***, but on a rail."

"At this doctrine the long-faced hypocrite and the sanctimonious bigot will probably cry, blasphemy! . . . Object not, therefore, too strongly against the marriage of Christ." (All the above statements: Journal of Discourses, Vol. 4, pages 259-260)

"When Mary of old came to the sepulcher. . .she saw two angels in white. and they said unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She said unto them, Because they have take away my Lord, OR HUSBAND, and I know not where they have laid him." (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 2, page 210)

In 1853 the following appeared in the Mormon church paper, the Millennial Star:

". . .we apprehend that even greater troubles than these may arise before mankind learn all the particulars of Christ's incarnation-how and by whom he was begotten; the character of the relationships formed by the act; the number of wives and children he had. . ." (The Millennial Star, Vol 15, page 825)

Statement by Brigham Young, second prophet of the LDS church:

"The Scripture says that He, the Lord, came walking in the Temple, with "HIS TRAIN; I do not know who they were, unless his wives and children;" (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 13. page 309)

The Mormon Apostle Orson Pratt:

"...it will be seen that the GREAT MESSIAH who was the founder of the Christian religion, WAS A POLYGAMIST, . . .the MESSIAH chose. . .by marrying honorable wives himself, show to all future generations that HE approbated the plurality of wives under the Christian dispensation, as well as under the dispensation in which His polygamist ancestors lived. . . .We have now clearly shown that God the Father had a plurality of wives. . ." (The Seer, page 172)

Joseph F. Smith said that at the marriage in Cana at Galilee, Jesus was the Bridegroom and Mary and Martha the brides. (Wilford Woodruff Journal, July 22, 1883)

Polygamy is still in practice in the Mormon church, If a man's wife dies, he may marry again celestially, thus providing for himself a polygamous family in heaven. Many contemporary Mormon widowers thus regard themselves as eternal polygamists.

Mormon leaders taught that polygamy was going to be a permanent part of the church and that it would never be stopped. Heber C. Kimball, First Counselor to Brigham Young, emphasized that the "principle of plurality of wives never will be done away,..." (Deseret News, Nov. 7, 1855) Kimball also warned: "Some quietly listen to those who speak... against the plurality of wives, and against almost every principle that God has revealed. Such persons have half-a-dozen devils with them all the time. You might as well deny 'Mormonism,' and turn away from it, as to oppose the plurality of wives. Let the Presidency of this Church, and the Twelve Apostles, and all the authorities unite and say with one voice that they will oppose the doctrine, and the whole of them will be damned." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 5, p. 203)

(Apostle Orson Pratt seer p,172) Both God the father and our Lord Jesus Christ inherit their wives in eternity as well as time" "Now if you deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned ."

Bruce R. McConkie stated: "Obviously the holy practice (of polygamy) will commence again after the Second Coming of the Son of Man and the ushering in of the millennium." (Mormon Doctine, 1966 edition).

Unfortunately, Joseph Smith's desire to obtain many wives led him to take other men's wives, it appears that Mormon males projected their carnal needs and desires into heaven, and that their heaven probably does not resemble in any shape or form actual heaven. To think the average person thinks that Mormonism is pro family and together forever when they really teach not marriage but adultery forever.

If the Mormon church wants to be called Christian there’s much to change, VERY MUCH.
