DONT FREEZE THEM!!
i suggest you keep them in the box. Either that, or put it in a ziplock bag. Put a couple packs of silica (that stuff that says "DO NOT EAT!") Don't let it touch the leather, keep it from touching the shoe. Especially for your V's, put the silica on the sole, to prevent yellowing of the clear sole. You should keep it in a dry place, w/ little sunlight. I would recommend your closet. If you prefer to keep it in the box, take out the tissue paper, because it speeds up yellowing.

i think freezing the shoes would definitely have an effect on the quality of the material after some time. suede will peel if it gets wet and i think freezing is classified as moisture.

leather may crack if frozen after some time. remember, it's dead skin so it won't stand in the harsh weather as much.

i think the earlier answer was the best. place them in air tight plastic bags and vacuum all the air out of it. it definitly would retain the quality of the shoe's material, although it may squash the shoes a bit.
