I'm a street theatre performer, and I can confidently answer that the question is too big. Street theatre usually takes place in public areas, which could be the street, or a park, or a shopping mall etc. I mention this because 'Outdoor theatre' is often confused with street theatre, but is usually in private space. The forms of street theatre can range from a full on performance with a play like narrative, through a music hall style 'roll up-roll-up' show, with stunts and skill based tricks, all the way to a solo character with no established story just interacting randomly with the public. The website of Fools Paradise will have some great examples.

Street Theatre has its roots in the ancient tradition of Mummers plays where locals used to take their own Christmas plays round the houses in their village at Christmas time. They often had topical jokes in and characters who were familiar to all -eg St George, the dragon,Father Christmas, The Turkish Knight. Now street theatre is not as widely performed which is a pity but the best place to see it is at The Edinburgh Festival when there are loads of performers out and about. Covent Garden in London still hosts a few and you can see Mummers Plays in some villages during December-look on the web for adverts.

Where the performance takes place outside in the open air - could be in the street, in a park or town square.

One of the best street theatre companies I've seen are the Polish company Teatr Biuro Podrozy. If you ever get the chance to see them go - they'll blow you away!
