I am studying the period 1630-1700. The books which I have to study are Aphra Behn, Oroonoko, the rover and other works, William congrevees, love for love and george ethereges the man of mode plus miltons paradise lost.

I have to concentrate on the civial war and restoration literature.

The Puritans had banned the theater and as their power waned, the theater staged a comeback. One of the features of disguise was to protect the identity of the actors from incrimination or reprisal. One of the features of costume, beyond as called for in the story, was to flaunt (on the one hand) or lampoon (on the other) those who opposed the theater.
