you should really avoid it if you can but as you get bigger, you will find you can't sleep on your stomach anyways. Te best position to lay in when pregnant is on your left side. The baby will be encouraged to lay that way also and it's the best position for it to be in during labour.

it's OK up to a certain point, then it gets too damned uncomfortable. i always sleep on my stomach, and did so when i was pregnant up until i was about 5 months gone, then it became impossible to get comfortable that way. i ended up buying a really large cushion from a market, and using it to rest my bump on as i slept on my side. u can buy cushions that are specially made for pregnant women to use like this, but i found that the prices were ridiculous - about £40. the one i bought from the market did the job just as well, and only cost £10. give it a try if u start getting uncomfortable on your stomach - during the last 4 months of my pregnancy, it was the only way i could get to sleep.

Firstly Congratulations on your pregnancy, It is possible to sleep on your stomach as the baby is protected by your body but once you start showing, your stomach will expand and you should ave a pillow or something to prop your belly bump, as you get bigger it becomes more uncomfortable so you can change to sleeping on your side with the pillow underneath your stomach and you are able to get more comfortable sleeping on your stomach but the pressure is on a pillow not onto a bed.

Good luck and best wishes.

Hi there!! I could only sleep on my stomach or my back before I got pregnant. Then I find out that I can't do either during my pregnancy. After about 10 weeks or so, it was so uncomfortable to lay on my stomach. I remember going for a massage and I barely got through it. Sleeping on your back during the 2nd half of your pregnancy, can cause problems for you and your baby. Now after my pregnancy is over and my son is 14 months old, I still can't sleep on my back or stomach. LOL I guess I trained myself too well to sleep on my side.

I have included a link to some sleeping information for you. Good luck to you and your baby!!

I know, you keep thinking "I am crushing the baby" but you aren't, he/she is well padded. I worried about the same thing, and I am a stomach sleeper, I suffered through 3 pregnancies paranoid to sleep on my stomach. If you are very concerned, check with your doctor. I am also sure your little one will let you know if they don't like your sleeping position(depending on how far along you are)

If your comfortable laying on your tummy then do. As you get bigger you will probably find this position uncomfortable, I did. The best thing I did was buy one of them v shaped pillows and aswell as supporting my bump when laying on my side in the later stages I also used it when breast feeding my first daughter to support my back. Good luck xx

I did until I was around 5 months. I'm a belly sleeper... always have been... and those last few months were TOUGH. I'm so happy I can sleep on my tummy again now! But now, sometimes, it's these darn breasts that make it difficult. Engorged breasts are hard to sleep on too!

Enjoy sleeping on your stomach while you can. There is no risk as long as there is no pain.

If you lie with a pillow under you that would make it easier in the latter stages of pregnacy, Know a few women who liked to lie on they're stomachs and it done them no harm.

It's important for pregnant ladies to be comfortable, so it's okay with me if you sleep on my stomach. Your significant other may have problems with it though.
