Most modern electricity power stations in the UK are gas powered, although that will change with time but the change is slow. Many old ones are coal as well as the new ones in china, but even coal prices are linked to gas prices (if gas prices rocket up coal producers know they can charge more for coal).

So rises in gas prices will always reach electricity prioces in the end.

Since electric is expensive to make it will always cost more than gas to supply to your home, at least for the next decade or two.

There are a number of very efficient, high output, electric boilers on the market, but, I'm afraid, gas still wins from an economy point of view.

After many years being all electric we have just had a combi
boiler and central heating fitted and what a difference it
has made to us.Hot water when needed for baths, washing up
and heating when wanted.
So gas is the answer, better by far and still cheaper.

Your gas and electric bills will both increase anyway.
A gas combi boiler is best. A lot more cost efficient than any other type.

a gas water heater is more fuel efficient - heats water faster - I prefer gas over electric - because electric prices go up with fuel prices
