There are 6 teens living in the home and they are aware of their responsibilities in regard to household chores. We have tried rosters, penalties, house meetings to discuss the filth they live in and asked them to solve the issue. Nothing has worked.

I dont know about the rest of the house, but as far as their bedrooms go, I had 3 teenage boys. My plan worked. I went into their bedrooms, picked everything up that was laying about, (including breakfast dishes under the bed!) put everything ON their bed, and added a big bin bag. The instructions were, Put everything in its right place. , whatever I find that isnt, goes into the bin. I gave them a reasonable time limit. (ie; 2 hours) and then checked and binned what wasnt put away. I onlyh had to do it once. Make sure its the day before dustbin collection day.!

Teens cannot be bargained with easily. They have their minds made up and they think they know it all and that their time is more valuable than anybody else's. They are selfish single people trying to test their freedoms.

I suggest that you take away privelages instead of just invoking penalties.
Take way i-Pods, computers, CD players, CD's, cars, keys, clothing (except what they're wearing), driver's licenses, bank and credit cards, TV's, DVD players, etc.
Pretty much anything that could be a distraction to them from their chores.

Good luck!

since they are big enough to be adults, tell them that they should either find their own accomodation or clean up. do not shout at them if they turn rebellious, just tell them that its the rule of the house, assist them to clean the house like every sundays, they should not leave the house until they have cleaned. draw up the rota of who should clean which day of the week so that you will know who to complain next if the house get dirty or messy. bye

Pick up the phone.
Call Merry Maids.
Make all the kids leave when they get to the house.
Let the maids do their thing.
Let kids back in.
Repeat steps three - five as needed.
