Congratulations on your pregnancy, its very normal not to feel your first baby until between 20-22 weeks, and the couple of weeks you feel the baby its really weak, it feels like butterflys in your stomach or gas, it is very normal to mistake the first feelings for gas, and you need to be laying down very still because you need to be really looking for it as you are unsure on what your ment to be feeling.

Tonight when your laying down in bed before going to sleep, put both your hands on your abdoman and talk to your baby, the baby will be able to feel and hear the your heartbeat in your hands. You may be able to feel it, hopefully, don't expected it straight away its normally when you think your about to give up that you feel something different a small push but you couldn't feel it with your hands more from just the inside, Its a feeling you will question 'was that it' and then it will happen again in a slightly different spot and you'll know deep down that was it. Its an amazing feeling that instintly warms your heart.

In the next few weeks it will become harder and you will feel them more often, You don't feel them all day as when your busy you don't notice it, when your laying down relaxing it creaps up on you. Don't worry to much if your concerned then contact your doctor. The reasoning you can't feel it yet is because the lining of your uterus is thick and the more pregnancys you have it thins and you feel it a little earlier about 17-20 weeks.

Hope this is helpful to you. Best wishes and good luck with your pregnancy.

If it's your first child and your placenta is low it could take a while to feel baby move. It's probably not that you haven't felt it but that you didn't realise that you felt it. If your a busy person, active, pre occupied etc you also wouldn't feel it very often. If you lay down and just relax and concentrate on the baby, it'll start to move.
Have you had your ultrasound yet? I'd imagine you have if you know the placenta is lying low. Did you see it move? Be patient and give it a week or two. If you still can't feel it I'd go to the hospital.
Good Luck

i'm 17 weeks and this is my 5th child. i started feeling the baby move around 14 weeks BUT, before you start getting worried... I KNEW what i was waiting for! your weight also effects when you feel the first movements... (so they say). i'm a bit over-weight (about 20 pounds to heavy) BUT it didn't effect my ability to detect the fluttering feeling early on. it feels like a little ocean wave... or like the flapping of butterfly wings. you can't feel it by touching your belly... it's an inside feeling. by 20 weeks though if you do a little work around the house then lay down to "rest" wait for the little pokes... sometimes they feel like little gas bubbles... and people mistakenly think that's what they are feeling when it's really the baby!

if you are concerned TELL YOUR DOCTOR. you will get an ultrasound that will get rid of your fears... you'll see it moving around in there:)

BEST WISHES!

How long has their been no movement? My baby was pretty active at 20 weeks, from what I remember, and only really slowed down towards the end of the pregnancy (although some days he was more active then others). I would call your ob/gyn just to put your mind at ease and make sure everything is a-okay.

Best wishes and congrats!

hiya hunni try having a glass of ice cold coke then laying flat on the sofa and relax for a short while. this always seems to work for me im almost 22weeks although this is not my 1st.
try not to panic alot of women dont feel strong movements just yet. it may be that your baby is moving more during the night when you are sleeping, i get up to pee loads at night and its not a surprise as the baby seems to be doing a work out in there.
good luck

I think you shoudl really see your doctor! Unless he's awake while you're asleep, if i'm not mistaken, that's not good. I only have one baby, but I think i felt her move at 5 months. But not too much! They really don't move that much until the last couple months. You should just ask your doctor. He might tell you to feel for the baby after you eat, because that's when they eat! GOOD LUCK!
