I am white and had all white dolls. I don't think it was really my choice or not my choice it was my parents bought me. My dad was really raciest and my mom is a little so they never would of bought me a black doll. I think the closest I got to something besides a white doll was a Hawaii one.
My dad didn't really want me having black friends either so the doll issue was not that big to me.
My dad never once spoke to my husband because he is not white he is Arab. Sad to because my husband is a good man. I am happy my dads views didn't rub off on me.
If I am ever blessed with a girl, I will let her choose what ever doll she wants. If she wants a black doll she can have one, if she wants a white doll that is her choice.

I'm white and so is about 100% of my country.
All the dolls available were white and I didn't find out about different races until I was about 5. I think it would be a good idea to have diverse dolls when you are a kid to embrace all kinds of beauty. For me, the design plays a bigger role than skin colour. For example, my favourite childhood doll had blue hair and was made entirely from hard plastic and I couldn't stand my sister's soft doll with small painted eyes that creeped me out. Observe what type of doll your child prefers and try to find similar ones in different races if possible.

I was given one white doll and a black Golliwog doll my grandmother knitted me as a child.
Black dolls were not common to buy where I come from in Australia so I guess that was why my Mum bought me the white doll as for my Grandma she loved Golliwogs and she is not here to ask but that was an interesting question you asked, I never really thought about it.
I am a white Australian with an English heritage

You make me think about a dolly I had over 3 decades ago. I called her Bessy.
She was so cute.
I got her for Christmas. My mom was out Christmas shopping and was looking for a doll for me. She found a new doll on the market. It was available in both black and white. She noted that other shoppers were purchasing the white doll, even the black shoppers.
This caucasion child got the black doll. My mother told me on Christmas morning, "she needs somebody to play with her."
She went everywhere with me. But, she was lost in our move from the south to the midwest. Darn movers lost our Christmas tree also.

I'm black and I had black dolls but when my friend brought her barbies over we'd play with both her white dolls and my black dolls. I had no preference it just happened that all my doll were either black or tan.
