any tips to cure it?

Yes I know a bit about this

First of all, think of your bed and remind yourself it has two uses, one is for sleeping, one is for spending intimate time with your partner (if you have one and if you are old enough)

Only get in to bed when you want to go to sleep, if you are in bed and find yourself unable to sleep, get up, go to another room and read a book watch telly etc then go back to bed when you feel tired.

Avoid eating for a few hours before you go to bed, in fact eat as early as possible - if you go to bed at 10 then try and eat at 5.30 for example.

Don't read in bed, nor should you watch television, nor should you lie in bed talking on the phone or texting. Bed should be predominantly for sleep, so when you get in to bed your body knows subconsciously you need to sleep.

If you are anxious about things its sometimes difficult to sleep - I would advise you to spend time talking to someone close to you about anything on your mind so you are not lying in bed worrying.

Avoid sleeping pills and definitely don't drink alcohol before you go to bed to help you sleep as you definitely won't get a better sleep.

It's better to go to bed earlier than get up later. And regularity is good - so if you can set a time to go to bed and a time to get up every day your body will have regularity which is healthy.

I have suffered with sleeping problems in the past and now I sleep like a baby - I can sleep eight nine ten hours plus! Best of luck.

Insomnia can be very stressful. You need to establish what is causing it as it is a symptom of either physical or emotional difficulties.Even when we cannot fathom out why we cannot sleep there will always be a reason and therein lies the problem for long term insomniacs.I absolutely swear by using MELATONIN after trying almost every other known remedy.I researed the product well and have been using it for a year with no ill effects.and i look and feel brilliant on it as it is also a powerful antioxidant. You can obtain it by mail order from www.biovia .co.uk and i use the 3mg.I need to take 3 a night but the dose is personal to the individual.I find it very gentle with no groggy after effects and what i also finduseful is accepting that i may have insomnia for the long term and accpting this and dealing with it as i have makes me feel much better.Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Amino Acid: Tryptophan

Chamomile is one of the herbs to consider using before you go to bed if you occasionally have a problem with insomnia. This herb also works well in a combination formula with herbs such as valerian, oatstraw, skullcap, and passionflower.

Chinese ginseng

Green Tea extract is available in capsules or in whole-food formulas. If you're getting a supplement, check the label for standardization. Look for formulas standardized between 80 to 90 percent polyphenols and 35 to 55 percent epigallocatechin gallage. The typical capsule dosage is one 500-milligram capsule taken one to three times daily. The supplemental form of green tea usually has the caffeine removed.

Kava: For insomnia, 2 capsules (usually 500 milligrams) one-half hour before bedtime.

Melatonin: has been shown to help normqalize the sleeping patterns of blind people. Since the pineal glands is light sensitive, blind people are often "out of sync" with the usual patterns of wakefulness during daylingt hours and sleepiness at night. By pacing the way they take melatonin, they can adjust so they don't suffer from daytime sleepiness. "Low dosess of melatonin are often the most effective. It should always be taken at night."

Nux vomica: actually treats the biochemical imbalances that lead to insomnia. If you've had trouble sleeping because you've been thinking about work, (just one example) nux vomica is particularly effective. Another "nux vomica symptom" is waking between 3 and 4 am.

Passionflower
Sulphur
Valerian

You can find more information about any of these alternative medicine remedies by doing a "Google Search" using the name of each.

I have a sleep disability, I have been in sleep studies, etc. I probably know more about sleep then most MD's...

I have at one time or another taken just about every sleeping aid ever made. What finally helped (did not cure) was a drug that has been around for many years. The name of this drug is Amitriptyline if you have to resort to this take the lowest dose possible! I think the lowest dose is 25mg. as I say if you have to take this make it your last resort. Take the 25mg and cut it in half, take one hour before going to bed. If you get tired before that go to bed whenever you feel tired. AS A LAST RESORT USE ANY DRUG.

I have been taking the above for my sleep disability for about 18 years, maybe a little longer. It was quite by accident I found this drug to help.

I have had this sleep problem since I was a young teenager. Next month I will be 68...

As I said I am probably more familiar with sleep and sleep aids then many doctors.

Try the Chamomile tea with melatonin first same time every night. It's very important to establish a ritual, same time, same place, keep the room dark and noise free. It has to become a habit. I think this is a good first choice and don't forget "more" is not better when it comes to taking melatonin for insomnia. The dose for melatonin can be increased after a week if it hasn't helped. Get up the same time every morning!

You have enough info here along with 'some' of the answers. Some answers are not worth even considering. I sorry to say that as I know all want to help. But this is one subject I'm an authority on!

ps Don't forget do a Google Search on the above info.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

The idea is to tone down mind and body activities hours before sleep so you will get to sleep easier...
Some useful steps:
1. Drink less coffee, tea or any other drinks that contain caffeine, especially after later part of afternoon.
2. Try going to bed at the same time every night.
3. Avoid alcoholic drinks after evening time as alcoholic drinks may cause early morning wakefulness and may wake you up after your sleep.
4. Ensure your sleeping environment is suitable for sleeping (not too noisy, not too bright, not too cold, bed not uncomfortable)
5. Avoid heavy meals hours prior to sleep.
6. Stop all mind-stimulating activities 1 hour before going to bed (activities like reading research papers, reading mystery solving books, doing your school work, solving a complicated Maths question, watching your computer, watching TV, etc)
7. Half an hour before bed, take a warm bath. Then drink a cup of WARM milk.
8. As you lie on bed, take a deep breath and as you breath out, slowly, imagine you have abandoned your body. Imagine that your body slowly 'sinks' into your bed and become 'blended' into the bed. As you are imagining, take another deep breath and count 1. * As you breath out, slowly, now imagine your body is like water ripples spreading out, slowly. Take deep breath again and count 2 and repeat the process (from the place i marked with a *). Start counting from 1 again when you reach 9 or any number you prefer...
Hope this help. Email me if you have queries.

Lavendar essential oil rubbed on your wrists and chest when getting into bed with a good book. Try putting on a relaxing CD at a low volume. Have a warm milky drink about 30 min before bedtime. Good luck and hope you get some sleep soon.

Watch the caffinated beverages closed to retiring.

Warm milk.

Valerian root, Skullcap, Passion flower, Wood betony, or California poppy.

Relieve stress by getting some exercise during the day; but not just before bedtime.

You may want to try Valerian:

Or SerenitePlus:

I personally would go with the Valerian first. I use a few of Nature's Way's poducts and they are very helpful!

Also, resirict your bed time to two things; sleeping and sex. No eating in bed, no watching tv in bed.

Avoid caffeine in the evening hours. Change your schedule and start getting up earlier. Eating right and regular exercise helps. Try reading a book..for some reason that tends to make people drowsy. Make sure that your room is completely dark and maybe even wear one those eye masks....even the slightest bit of light in the room can affect your sleep. Just some ideas....Good luck!
