I seen a person that was pregnant too that had the same problem...does anyone else know why that is?It is an obsession and i constantly crave the smell.Could it be a sign of a vitamin deficency or something to that effect. It only happens in my last trimester.i do have Gestational Diabetis could this be the cause or effect of this?

I craved that stuff with both of my pregnancies. It may be a deficiency but my advice is give in to your craving. My doctor told me that it was perfectly fine as long as you don't try to ingest it. I don't think it has anything to do with your diabetis because I craved it and had nothing going on with my body. My doctor also told me that one of his patients craved to smell hot tar. At least you don't jump out of the car to go smell the highway.

Could be a possible deficency, yes. There are strange ones like dirt, paint, etc. So you need to contact your doctor immediately. Other than that, just smelling it is better than eating it! It won't hurt you. But get it checked out, better safe than sorry. :)

cravings like that are normal from what i've heard. but if you start craving the taste or start eating those items its bad. i believe the term is called pica which requires immediate attention from a doctor.

You might want to talk to your doctor about having you iron checked. I know with that you crave weird things like rubber and gas and dirt and tree bark. I would ask at you next appt. and see what he says about it.

Good luck.

It may or may not indicate anything. Some women have strange cravings. Talk to your doctor about it.

some women do get wierd cravings when they are pregnant. it does not usually have any meaning that you are deficient or anything.
but try to avoid inhaling as far as possible, its not good in pregnancy
