what is left in an account is yours if you are the indicated our or if you are not it is in favour of the lender.

It Mean A Positive Balance,
1) Money That Someone Owes You/Your Company
2) Money That You Are Suppose To Get From Someone/Some Company

"balance in our favor" means that they are/were owed money (as opposed to owing a balance).
