Does it makes sense to buy a higher clock speed RAM module for a lower FSB rated processor (for e.g. a 667Mhz RAM for Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology featuring Intel® Core™ Duo
processor T2050 (1.6 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB))?

Also, is it possible to have 2 RAM modules of different ratings on the same laptop? like one 512MB (667Mhz) and another 1Gb (533Mhz) ? How will it affect the system performance?

Yeah I know, I was thinking on the same lines. So why the hell is HP shipping a laptop with a processor of 533MHz FSB and a 512MB 667MHz RAM?
Also, if I add 1 Gig more to it, should I go for 533 or 667 [I'll like 533 as its cheaper] ?

a few systems will not allow you to use faster RAM
also ram will only operate at the slowest of Ram or BUSS speed

simply said, ur ram is like a bucket and the FSB (front side bus) is the passage or amount that u can pour in...

So to have a bigger bucket makes no sense as the amount that the system can take is still limited. So wat will happen is that the RAm module will be under-utilised.

so if instead u have a higher speed FSB but a lower speed RAM, the FSB will be under-utised.

So, the system remain the same. as either is under-utilsed!

Another example is like buying a good door but havin a cheap lock or a cheap door but expensive good lock.
which provides better security?

Regardless of what you do, the ram is only going to operate as fast as the bus speed! Another thing to consider is the fact that not all mobos and their memory configuration are the same! Consult your manual!

i could desire to disagree with them. in case you place that 667MHz on a 800MHz gadget, it is going to on no account paintings reliably. subject concerns will look merely useful and then with out word you will get a residing house residing house windows blue instruct of death. That reminiscence will on no account save up with the fee of the motherboard.
