Many of you may remember the other day when I asked about the three pregnancy tests? Well, I went into the doc and he said I was 8 weeks. As stated before, my fiance and I are surprised, but happy. And I'm even getting a little nervous and excited, and we have already picked things out. So maybe I'm a little freakish about it. Only because I want this baby so bad. Tonight I started to spot. I went to the ER and they said "Its first month bleeding and the doc just got the due date wrong, everything is fine." this doctor hit my first childs due date on the head, and I'm *very* attentative to my cycle, its on the day perfect. I know when I will start. Now I'm freaking out, almost in tears and can't sleep. Someone just tell me they have had this and everything is fine?

don't panic!

my husband and i went through artificial insemination SO, we knew EXACTLY when i got pregnant. because of this VERY intensive procedure i was monitored a great deal during the first couple of months. when i was 5 weeks pregnant the doctor did the first ultrasound (one week after i missed my period). at that time he pointed out to me that there was some "fluid" in the uterus and he then told me it would NOT be uncommon if during the next few days i noticed SOME spotting as this fluid was discarded. he also told me that if i did start to spot that he wanted a call so he could do another ultrasound as a "safe-guard".

my best advice for you? lie down and call the doctor. if you can't get him/her at this hour... go to your local ER and ask for an ultrasound.

your doctor can also do a blood test on your HCG levels for the next few days. your levels double ever 24 hours in early pregnancy... if they are dropping that signifies a miscarriage BUT if they continue to climb the spotting is NOTHING to worry about. I know it's easier said than done... but PLEASE find a way to reduce the stress you're feeling right now... that's not good for you OR the baby!

It is most likely that ER is right when they said everything is ok. Maybe they weren't exactly right about the doctor's getting the date wrong. Maybe they were just kind of assuming on that.

It is entirely possible to have some spotting not only in the first or second month, but sometimes as late as the fifth month.

If you're "the type" who tends to have some bleeding in a pregnancy you'll find it just kind of shows up from time to time for a while. I obviously cannot know if everything the ER said was fine, but I can tell you there are a lot of women who have some spotting in pregnancy. It is only spotting. Whether or not these ER people know how correct your doctor is about the date is one thing; but whether they know what harmless spotting looks like versus miscarriage bleeding is another. They've seen it all before. They know the patterns of miscarriage bleeding versus the pattern of harmless spotting. You just have to trust them. Most likely, they are right They must have asked you when it first showed up, whether it disapeared, etc. - whatever pattern it followed.

Please get a second opinion now. You should law with your feet up and not get out of bed for a month. There have been many relatives in your situation and I have seen what they did. Get to a reputable and honorable gynecologist quick. If you call these offices and explain what is going on, they will usually get you in that day. You may not want to tell about the medical diagnoses until after the gynecologist looks at you. Most professionals will not take somebody Else's patients.

I spotted the first month. And I carried my baby to term.

The ER doctor is not your OB doctor, Next time you see your OB doctor ask him for a due date. When he does the first ultrasound he can tell how far along you are.

Be patient and get some sleep.

I would contact the ob doctor and let him know what happened and what they said- and what to do now- you should be fine - and did they do an ultrasound- or just guesstimate- anyway= lots of women spot and do fine and have a happy healthy baby=D

I did the same thing with all 3 of my children. They all came out just fine, and now they are young adults. My daughter in law also did the same thing when she was expecting my grandson. He turned 11 months old today, ummm yesterday now. Just stay calm, and try to get some sleep.
