If it will make you feel better, I don't think we are headed for a civil war.
Oddly enough there is not that much difference between the two major political parties, and a viable third or replacement party might not be a bad idea. Many Americans really are unhappy with the choices available to us.
We can, however, vote to reject extremism by either side. If this current election tells us anything it is that the American public needs to become better educated on the world than they now are, as well as the obvious fact that voters prefer moderate politicians from either major party to extremists of either side.
You are correct. In the final analysis we do need to share our common beliefs and work and fight for our common interests.
By the way, I generally don't hate anyone. I have many friends and a few relatives whose political views are very different from mine. They are wrong and I am right but I can tolerate and forgive.
(Just kidding.)

I took some Political Science classes in College, my personal Ideology, is that as humans, the need to compete or succeed is always there. Furthermore, With the idea of personal political philosophy. Every Ideology will eventually become obsolete and then either forgotten, changed, or simply die out.
But not all believe they want a better America for US. Some believe they want a better America for THEM. This is a style of Radical Nationalism. White Nationalists want a white utopia. Raza Nationalists want Their "Aztlan". It goes on for every race and Political Ideology, Socialist, Anarchist, Communist. Etc.
This is a problem with Democracy in my opinion. One of my analogies is, take a group of people. One person yells that the Government is currupt. The crowd agrees. Then the same person says that The Christians are Evil and Perverted. This singles out the Christians from this group. The Christians then retaliate saying that Homosexuals are the perversion of the world, This singles out the homosexuals. This continues until we have a feud, and it's all acceptable, because we have the right to believe differently. But we will be chastised for being different from that group, and thus hated for it.

Let's talk about World Peace. Everybody else does, so why shouldn't we?
That's the first thing I notice about World Peace. Everybody talks about it, but very few people seem able to do what it takes to produce it.
There probably has never been a time in the history of the world when the human race has experienced peace everywhere on the planet at once.
Think about that for a minute.
I SAID...there probably has never been a time... since this planet was created ...when there has been World Peace.
Somebody somewhere is always creating a problem.
Now why is that, do you suppose? Why is that...?
Is it because the human race is simply so primitive as a species that we just don't know how to live together without fighting?
Is it because we're just so barbaric as a culture that we can't find a way to get along?
Is it because we're just so selfish as a civilization that we seem utterly unable to co-exist harmoniously?
No. It's none of these.
It's because we're afraid. Chronically afraid. Forever afraid.
And why?
Why are we afraid? We're afraid because we're separated.
Separation is the great tragedy of humanity.
And here's where the tragedy lies: The tragedy lies not in the fact that we're separated, but in the fact that we're not.
The tragedy lies not in something that IS, but in something that ISN'T.
We are NOT separated -- but we think that we are.
Isn't that sad? Our illness is not even real. Our fear is not even well-founded. Our behaviors are not even justified. We've been acting the way we've been acting... for nothing.
If the condition of separation were real, at least some of the ways in which we behave would be understandable. It's scary to be alone. It's frightening to be all by oneself. Indeed, utter isolation can drive one mad.
And we are mad. As a species, we're mad. We're acting as if we're crazy. We're thinking crazy things, we're saying crazy things, we're doing crazy things.
And what's crazy is that all of this is unnecessary. All of this can stop. Our long global nightmare can be over. Because we are NOT alone. We are NOT separated. We are NOT "on our own."
It is NOT "every man for himself." Life is NOT about "the survival of the fittest."
Or perhaps it is -- but perhaps we simply have landed on the wrong definition of "fit."
To be "fit" to survive is to simply realize, embrace, and live the truth. Then our survival will be guaranteed.
We are all One. And when we ACT as a Unified Whole, instead of as separate, scared beings, nothing can harm us. And when we KNOW that nothing can harm us, we will stop harming each other. Then, as if by a miracle, we will have stopped harming ourselves.
Here is the truth: We are separate from nothing. Not from God. Not from Life, in any of its manifest forms, and, therefore, not from Each Other.
The idea of separation is a myth. It is a mistaken notion. It is a myopic perspective that has created distorted perception that has produced false belief that has resulted in dysfunctional behavior that has brought unwanted experience that has created a nightmare reality that has nothing to do with the truth.
The solution to the world's problems, therefore, is to simply change our perspective, to see ourselves as One, and to treat everyone and everything as an extension of the Self.
Now you will notice something about this solution. It is not a political solution. It is not an economic solution. It is not a military solution.
This is a spiritual solution. It has to do with...not something we are doing, but something we are being.
For us to finally create World Peace we need to touch the soul of humanity, to change the mind of humanity, to open the heart of humanity.
That work has to be done one person at a time. There's no other way. And there is no one else to do it...but you.

I vote bashed on problems, now not how nasty individuals are. Obama AND Hillary are terrible. It is also "bashing" to name them liars however it's not "slander." BTW, "slander" is an untruthful oral (spoken) assertion approximately a man or woman that harms the man or woman's popularity or status locally. Notice the phrase "untruthful?" Much of what's written right here is right so it's not "slander."
