i have just now learnt to knit.. the basic knit and purl and ribbing.. and have started with a scarf.. i would like to learn more about knitting well enough to knit my oown sweater... can anyone help me through this.. i would appreciate some more tips for beginners and basic patterns for beginners ..thank you

Oh this is where Yahoo Groups comes in VERY handy!! Go to the group section of yahoo and find a group structured just for beginners. They will probably have tons of patterns for beginners.

There is another website called Knitting Help that has wonderful videos that zoom right in to what they are showing. *URL below*

Hey if you can knit and purl you are all set! That's just about all you need to make a basic sweater. Now if you are going to get into color changing I suggest joining the MonthlyDishclothes group on Yahoo so you can have a fairly small project to get used to switching colors w/o leaving holes in the knitting.

Some of the older books will have stitches that aren't so common anymore and most of them look really nice...in the book, I'm still a beginner and learning different stitches :-)

I myself am just starting the venture of learning to knit - I have been very pleased with patterns, hints, tips and ideas from: http://www.craftster.org There are several sections for all kinds of crafts, and many areas to look through. Enjoy and I hope this helps!!
