Asian box turtles (Cuora spp.), like the Malayan box turtle (C. amboinensis), are more aquatic than American box turtles. They are semiaquatic and regularly move between land and water. They can eat on land but usually prefer to do so in the water. They are omnivorous.

There are several Asiatic box turtles- some are very terrestrial, most are semi-aquatic (shallow water), and a few are pretty aquatic.
