If the U.S. had stayed out of the European Theater, Germany would have overrun Russia, developed the A-bomb, and used it to attack the U.S.

Hitler regarded the U.S. as the greatest danger to his planned empire. Hitler knew that he would have to confront the U.S. in time. Hitler didn't have much time, so he would have attacked the U.S. ASAP.

No they never would have won the war it was too vastly spred out, by that time the Nazi virus had invaded Africa, South America, America, Canada, all of Europe, etc., We really needed to be there earlier but decisions were made that prohibited us from doing our job as freedom fighters. So many here went to Canada to join their forces to fight over there for Great Britain and Europe. Pearl Harbor was inevitable certainly the invasion of China was obvious enough that we were next. The Philipines was a disaster area but thank God for Macarther, and Patton, or we would all be good little Nazis, communists and bowing to the emperor, what ever way they would have divided up the pie after they all got tired and ran out of strength they would have split the profits. No tyrants ever give up they are like spoiled brats that get violent when you dont give them what they want and the only thing that stops them is a good slap. And we gave it to them. Afte all we rescued the British prisoners in the German camps. The French, the whole country of Italy we rescued from Mussolini. The poor Greeks were so grateful we came into it or they were going to be taken over by the Turks. and so on.

It would probably prolong the Germany defeat. However, Germany defeat was inevitable even without the US. Romel lost at El-Alamein from British and Von Paulus lost at Stalingrad before any US involvment in European theater. After Stalingrad the Russians have upper hand in wheaponry as well and there was only the question of time when they will reach Berlin. Although Britons didn't have much troups on the ground, 1943 they have achieved supremacy in the air. Germans basically didn't have defense against RAF. Once you have one defensless breach you are defeated. Normandy was just the American show-off.

Your post sounds like it's from that time period instead of current day!

There once was an interesting movie called "faderland" which shows what could have happened if the U.S. had retreated at the invasion of Normandy. In that story, Germany won the war and eventually took over Europe.

I know that our forces (The Yanks) were a big factor in the victory, but whether the Brits and Russians could have carried it off without our help, I don't know.

The Germans would have never defeated the Russians or the Brits Remember they tried during that very war long before Yankee Doodle Dandy turned up.

So even if the Americans hadn't entered the European conflict the rest of the allies would have eventually crushed Hitlers Army's

Britain had lost its army at Dunkirk and Russians did not have enough resources to fight Hitler.Had Americans not joined hands with Britain and France, Hitler would have captured entire Europe and North Africa there by raising Germany to the status of super power. It is the American assistance which helped Britain to check the sea and land power of Germany. Finally it was the allied force which landed at Normandy to blast open Hitlers famous Atlantic wall.

I think Britain could have held out against Germany-they won the Battle of Britain and Hitler gave up his channel-crossing plans. Dieppe demonstrated that an invasion of the continent would definately need American help. Without D-day I think Germany and Russia would have eventually reached a stalemate.

Every element that is added to or subtracted from a War time coalition does have an impact on the total and final outcome of the War. Please don't underestimate the gigantic motivational power of Sir Winston or the sheer perseverance of Stalinist Russia. You can have ideological difference of opinion with both, but you must concede great human strengths when you see them. That is your passport to your own greatness.

more than likely as four fifths of Nazi military strength was sent against the Russians, only one fifth went against the British and Americans, although the British were important in stopping the German's reaching the oil fields in the middle east and pinning down German troops in France and Italy.
