Having good breaks has nothing to with the ABS system. You can have bad breaks and the ABS system wont indicate that.
ABS or Automatic Breaking System is a computer run system that won't allow your wheels to lock up in slippery or emergency breaking. The system is designed to pulse the breaks rapidly to maintain the maximum amount of breaking while not letting the wheels luck up.
The cause for an ABS light indicator to stay on can be many. Have the system checked out at a professional break shop just to be safe.

Someone put the wrong rotor on the car. The ABS sensors are not picking up the magnets that SHOULD be on the rotors. Those magnets pass the sensors each time the tires rotate. When they DON'T pass the sensors, the brake system thinks the car is skidding and causes the braking system to compensate and release the brakes until the car's computer reads the wheels slowing properly. Make sure you have the right parts. Cheaper rotors fit, but you will eventually damage the ABS sensors in your vehicle, causing about 800 to a thousand dollars' worth of repairs to be needed...

Your brakes are still good, you'll be skidding more on slick surfaces.
Check the ABS sensors and wheel rings. The sensors have wires on them going to your wheel housings. Maybe one got knocked off. Check the ABS fuse as well.
BTW, The A in ABS stands for anti-lock.
