that is if youre in the States, unless you feel like paying 80, 90 bucks for a store like Best Buy
Some versions of Western digital are good...but I prefer Seagate.

Hard drives are dropping in price all the time and 80 GB isn't a great amount these days, shop around and online.

Search for the hard disk 80 GB on Amazon, shopping.com, froogle, google base. Much faster response.

Dont use Fdisk or different software for format. purely use default instructions in laptop. Like in case you want to format C force goto my laptop and good click on the force, click on "format" pick the tactic "finished". that is maximum realiable approach. yet dont forget to take all neccessary backup of drivel in different partition.
