My friend cleans homes. She advertises locally (index cards on local store bulletin boards, community paper, etc.) She gets additional jobs by word of mouth. She does a good job and she stays pretty busy. Several people that I know have hired housecleaners (some "Merry Maids" and some private.) All of them have had disappointments. Make very sure you and your clients have a meeting of the minds as to what exactly you will be responsible for...and what you will not be responsible for. Maybe make a check list . If you and the client have it in writing, there will be less conflict down the line. Also decide who will supply the cleaning products for the jobs. Best of luck.

Best advertisement is word of mouth. Start out extremely slow. Put and add in the paper. You could look in the want ads and find offices to clean or whatever. The trick is to just start low and small. The more you work for at the bottom, the greater work you will attain for the top.

First, invest in good cleaning supplies.
Secondly, advertise your services. Put an ad in your local Pennysaver, make up fliers and distribute them on community bulletin boards, and put up an ad on your local Craigslist site (www.craigslist.org).
You should charge somewhere along the lines of $10/hour to start, with a minimum payment of $60. If people like your work and you get a better reputation, you can raise your rates.
If you are in the San Fernando Valley area, maybe I'll hire you!

You could put it in the newspaper. You will have to pay for that though. There are also great little pamplets you can put in for free. Like the Thrifty Nickel and others... Also ask around word of mouth is best.
