use pediacare infant decongestant plus cough drops.
these will help relieve his stuffy or runny nose, cough, and congestion
give him 1 dropper full (0.8ml) every 4-6 hours but no more than 4 doses in 24 hours.
put a warm mist humidifier in his room to help keep the air moist and help break up the chest or nasal congestion he has to help him breathe better
if he'll let you (ha ha-i have 3 kids-this was never easy!!), suction his nose out with a nasal suction (like the one they gave you when he was born) before putting him to bed.
don't use vick's vapor rub on him for any reason-this medication is too strong for a baby's lungs and can actually make breathing harder for him.
you might want to also put a baby monitor in his room (if you don't already have one) so you can hear him while he sleeps in case he has trouble breathing or becomes more uncomfortable
hope he feels better soon!!

You, your baby, any other children, and any other health provider you have for him should really have a flu shot, the flu is very dangerous at such a young age. As for the coughing, don't use a suppressant a baby needs to cough to get whatever is in there out. Try taking him into a steamy bathroom and put some towels underneath one end of his mattress to elevate him b/c as soon as you lay him flat he'll probably wake up coughing. Give him plenty of that mommy love and care to let him know how much you love him.

Saline solution in a dropper or even spray can clear his nose - some come with a little suction squeezer to help get mucous out. This is the safest alternative.
You may find some decongestants can be used for babies but check with your pharmacist as he's still young. Don't use them too often because sometimes it's better to let some of it run out and clear the infection. For my daughter I used them at night and maybe once in the day, say near nap time.
If he has a temperature try baby paracetamol, but if he gets too hot or is listless, or is coughing from his chest I'm sure you know to take him to a doctor.
You may find lifting the head of his cot mattress up a little helpful so the mucous drains down and lets him sleep.
You can run the shower and sit with him on a chair in the bathroom a while to just sit in gentle steam. This should help clear his passages before you put him to bed - just don't let him get too hot/ wet etc. A humidifier can also work but the shower is cheaper!
Make sure you keep his chest warm with singlets etc.
I also burn Eucalyptus oil in an oil burner in the house, not too close to the bub, to kill germs and help everyone breathe a little easier.
Also, keep him off dairy foods as much as possible as it can make the mucous worse. You've probably thought of citrus fruits and multivitamins for Vitamin C and zinc to help his immunity and help him recover. Make sure he drinks a lot of fluid and if you're breastfeeding maybe give him a few more feeds a day especially if he's off his food.
Hope this helps.

There's a contraption that comes with a pump and fits on the baby's nose that helps to remove mucus/phlegm from the nasal passage. This brings some relieve to the baby. Also, if you are sleeping in an airconditioned room, having a bucket of water on the floor/table and some wet towels help to prevent the air from being overly dry. This will also bring some comfort. Massage the baby's throat with some gentle ointment for babies (vapex baby version etc) and that will help bring down the itch in the throat that causes coughing. Giving baby lots of warm water instead of lukewarm helps. Finally, if the baby is under medication, try giving the drowsy version (if prescibed) just before the usual sleeping time.

Poor baby! I have a 7 mo. old and he has not been sick like that yet, so it breaks my heart to hear that! I would try a humidifer to help if he has a stuffy nose. Also, you can use pedicare (for babies & tots) it can help w/ congestion, sleeplessness and cough... and also my pedi said my baby could take any of the Robitussins b/c they are mild (but they can only have 1/4 of a tsp). You can give Ibuprofen or Tylenol for body aches - just make sure you talk w/ your doctor or pharmacist about how to alternate that w/ the cold meds as not to overdoes the baby. I am also sure a nice bottle of warm milk will help him feel good and bundling him up good for bed. And if all else fails, I am sure being close to mommy helps all things! GL & God bless!
