India is only now beginning to enjoy the benefits of a liberalized policy regime. If the government continues along this path, there is no doubt that the 8percent GDP growth rates of today could easily enter double figures.
The big fears of the left leaning parties that the poor will be left behind is only true to a point. In an economy growing as fast as ours, almost every segment of the society will enjoy the benefits of the growth. It will take time, but it will happen.
One issue we need to watch out for is the ecological cost of development. China's growth has come at a great cost to the environment in that country and this is something we have to be careful about.
