As a country we are at an intellectual place where we are ready to make big moves. Congress has had a major shift as a result of the recent elections, but we don't seem to know where the country is headed. Or if we do know, then no one has told me. On most major issues we see such strong dichotomy that it is hard to believe we are all living in the same country. In the same way though, that is part of the beauty of this country - the right to disagree.
So how do we agree to disagree, and get some direction in our culture?
You can't build a house if you don't have plans, you can't get somewhere unless you know where you are going.
We have everything
so...
as a country
as a population
as a nation
as a people
what are we building?
and where are we going?

We are a divided country in a holding pattern. This country no longer has a defining issue that unites us. The Bush Administration tried with the War on Terror but failed dismally. The problem is I think my generation, the one born in the first twenty years following World War 2 was spoiled rotten by the era in which the US had no real economic competitors (1945-1973), and doesn't know how to deal with an era in which competition is plentiful. Unfortunately that's who's running the country these days regardless of which political party gains power. Neither one has a clue what they are doing, and neither do most of the voters. Witness the fact that they were willing to change parties based on a campaign that had little basis in fact.

For one .. i think politicians are trying to build hate with other countries... and we are going straight down from here. WHy? for a fact if you look throughout history there is no one great civilization that has lasted.... USA has been great since teh day it was born. however looking at it nowadays we are going down. Our nation is trying to hold up/prolong this by occupying other lands.. and try and take control of as much as it can. UK was big inteh past .. and it shrunk... so were teh romans / greeks/ muslims ... etc .. Its not our country's fault .. its just history repeating itself....

With the democrats in control, we're going backwards. Democrats only want technological process if it harms human fetuses, because the rest is environmentally unsound. Prepare to usher in a new Dark Age.
