One instinct I just learned about has to do with mirror neurons in the brain. When you stick your tongue out at a baby the baby might also stick their tongue out. They have no concept of their tongue yet, or what they are actually doing, but it is instinct, somewhere wired in the brain. How this matters is that children with autism have a dysfunction within the mirror neurons, making it difficult for them to understand unlearnable instincts that lead to the ability to value social interaction. An interference with the structures in our genes that create instinct can lead to a dysfunction, in which we term disease. Here's another instinct:

Name the above structures, which one is kiki and which one is boubou. 99% of people will identify the structures in the same way. There are definite abilities that are innate that lead to our basic level of communication and interaction. Without those, people face larger challenges in life.

Instinct has some relationship with the future. Some situation will influence it and some affect that. It is natural. Some gets it through experience. You cannot define or limit it. You have to experience it and approve that it is an instinct and also it is personal.
