Yep planes are an enclosed space where the air is recirculated many times. It's a great way to spread germs.

while air is filtered many times before circulating in at airplane, your baby is still is close proximity to other's germs. I have been travelling with my children frequently since they were a month old. In fact when my daughter was 2 months we flew from Indianapolis to England. On this flight she caught a bad cold, but since then she has always been fine. Start your baby on extra vitamin C and keep her away from other people as much as possible and the risk is minimized. There are more germs in an office or mall than the plane anyway. I'm sure she'll be fine.

I would have to say yes, I fly every month and even as I am an adult , I often pick up a bug on the plane, it,s simply that the air we breathe on a plane contains all of our germs that we might have! however I would not say don't take your baby on a plane, as long as he'she is as healthy as can be prior then it's not guaranteed they will pick up a virus! When my daughter was very young she flew very regular and to be honest I think maybe only once out of many many flights did she get the sniffles!

Absolutely, the sudden change in atmospheric conditions between the 2 coastal cities is so different this time of year. Your child may not be at risk but I would certainly think that it would increase her chances of catching an infection.

Yes. All you can do to prevent this is wash your hands (or bring hand sanitizer) all the time and keep your baby on you, like in a sling. If you breastfeed that's your best chance for giving your baby antibodies to protect her from getting sick.

That is a long flight. Best bet is to ask your doctor. if your baby is healthy and didn't have any problems at birth you might want to risk it for an important event but if it is just for the holidays, your family should understand the risk.

It isn't much different than taking the baby to the mall or the grocery store. Babies have immunities. Just don't pass her around the plane.

Any time you travel from one area to another you increase your chances of picking up a new virus you are not immune to, baby or adult.

Yes because their immunity is not strong enough to handle 10,000 germs yet,but people do it all the time and I guess their babies are fine.

personally, i would recommend doing it only if you were breastfeeding and kept the baby in a sling the whole time, where people's droplets and germs would be kept away from her. good luck!
