The house just voted against normalizing trade relations with Vietnam. What's with this? The US starts a full blown war in Vietnam, rpaes, loots, burns, and kills over 2 million Vietnamese...not to mention Agent Orange and the Chemical war after that has left millions more with life crippling diseases, birth defects, etc., and has not paid one cent in war reparations to the Vietnamese people. Is this the USA's way to say sorry fora ll of the evils they perpetrated? All Vietnam wants to do is develop, and with the US being the usual bully (this time re: trade) is disgusting and evidence of their abysmal foreign policy. How much more do you want to hurt Vietnam.
Utterly sickening.

The USA yesterday just removed Vietnam from their religous persucution list. That's a good step ahead for Vietnam. And they released two Americans that were being charged with terrorism.

In a few years we will have full trade and diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

Once we become involved with Vietnam, all the horror stories about the U.S. poisoning the Mekong Delta with agent orange (Dioxin) will come out and the resulting birth defects which have led to huge numbers of deformed children being quietly put down, won't be so quite anymore. America will go on trial again in the court of world opinion where we have been taking a well deserved beating already. Vietnam has also, in secret talks, shown an unwillingness to let Western oil companies come in to develop their offshore oil potential under the raping conditions favored by the oil companies.

Vietnam was a mess before the US ever got involved; we certainly should have stayed out, Vietnam was never worth the sacrifice in human lives we paid and we owe nothing to this nation. Let the Chinese and Russians, who used Vietnam to fight a war they lacked the courage to fight themselves, help.
