I have the legal right to obtain copies of the attorney files of the other party involved in this suit for custody. I am representing myself and want to send a written request for said copies, but want to make sure I don't sound like an idiot. Can anyone help me with examples or templates? Thanks! I don't anticipate losing by any means, but want to know what I am dealing with.

Yes you are on the right track and the correct term is non-disclosure. It is a very law embedded field and can be twisted and turned at every post. Such as matters of opinion can be withheld from you and other similar documents. The best way is really to have a legal representative who will not be railroaded by the other side. A solicitor will try and eat you up with legal jargon that will make your head spin.

You really, really should get an attorney. You will only regret not doing so.

What you want is called "discovery." It can be very long, very nuanced, sometimes expensive, and a huge hassel. You need an attorney.
