The Rocky Mountain News in Denver is running a poll tomorrow (Tuesday) on whether Patrick Roy's accomplishments in Denver "come close" to that of John Elway. I think it would be great if people could just flood the poll with pro-Roy comments to balance out the inevitable flood of comments lauding Saint John Elway. The poll should be up by tomorrow at 8 a.m. Mountain time. Who knows, it might even be up after midnight Mountain time. Voting closes at about 4 p.m. Mountain time. Any help would be appreciated. You'll never win this argument, although one could argue that Roy was certainly more important to his team than Elway was.
The Broncos, likely, would have won with a lesser QB in their Super Bowl wins (now, we're not talking JP Lossman here...maybe Dilfer or McNair)...where as Roy was the one who put the Avs/Nords over the top to win their first drink from Lord Stanley.
Both players had baggage...Roy's exit from Montreal was ugly...Elway's issues with Dan Reeves almost made him exit Denver. However, football is a much more popular sport in Denver and, unless you are comparing the likes of Bobby Orr to Tom Brady, no hockey player could ever win this...and even Orr wins only by a hair there.

if it wasn't for Patrick Roy the first year the Avalanche arrived they would of never won the Stanley cup. and it took years for Elway to bring the Superbowl in Denver.

Sorry I still hate Roy. Especially when he moved to Colorado. I never really hated Elway. I even rooted for him in the long long ago.

patrick roy was in colorado for only 6-9 years. john elway had no contract squabbles. he won 2 super bowls when he had a great coach. those wins came the broncos were not consider a much team than others. colorado dominated because of shrewd management, coaching, and playing.
