The PS3 is backwards compatible all the way to the PS1, so any Playstation game you have (regardless of the system generation) will play on the PS3.
The only catch is that you'll need to purchase the memory card adapter in order to import your PS1 & PS2 save data onto the PS3 hard drive. All save data for all games are saved onto the PS3's hard drive, making the PS1 & PS2 memory cards obsolete.

really. I personal one. I say purchase it because that is totally low-priced now and the video games are airborne dirt and mud low priced, plus there's a tremendous decision of high quality video games. PS3 is going to be VERY severe priced even as it launches, and it will be scarce (purely four hundred,000 are delivery to the U.S.), so get the PS2 now and carry out about a three hundred and sixty 5 days or 2 for PS3. it will be more low-priced and characteristic an more advantageous decision by then.
