No Super Bowl game has ever gone into overtime play. The closest instances to overtime play were in…
Super Bowl V, when the Baltimore Colts kicked a field goal at the end of regulation play to win 16-13 over the Dallas Cowboys
Super Bowl XXXIV when St. Louis Rams linebacker Mike Jones tackled Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kevin Dyson at the 1-yard line at the end of regulation, preventing a game-tying touchdown
Super Bowl XXXVI when Adam Vinatieri kicked the winning field goal on the last play to lead the New England Patriots over the St. Louis Rams
And Super Bowl XXXVIII when Vinatieri kicked a field goal with 4 seconds remaining, allowing the Patriots to beat the Carolina Panthers.

Tennessee vs. St. Louis had the Titans coming within a yard of overtime.
New England vs. St. Louis had the game heading to overtime before Bellichek surprised everyone by throwing the ball to get the Pats in for a last second field goal...in fact, the Pats won on the V's foot twice to stave off overtime.
Baltimore vs. Dallas also ended with a last second kick that gave the Colts the win 16-13.
That's as close as we've come to date.

no it hasn't but considering who goes to the superbowl this year it could defitently go into overtime. the teams in the AFC and NFC has stepped it up to the next level. working harder and thinking more critically. i can so see this superbowl going into overtime...it definently won't be a blow out game. it will be a pretty close game.

FOR 40 SUPERBOWLS, THERE NEVER HAD A GAME THAT WENT TO OVERTIME. IN A COUPLE YEARS, THERE MIGHT BE A SUPERBOWL THAT WILL GO TO OVERTIME.

NFL Channel purely reported something about "our first rain tremendous Bowl ever", so it appears like "no"... i can not help yet imagine that moist turf can help you the Bears more effective than the Colts... flow Bears!!
