I know its an ant, and from the scientific name I can gather that it lives in California, but I need to know the common name and any other possible links that would lead me to information and NOT pictures about this articular species.

You know, most of the world's animal species do not have common names. Only those that average folks are fairly well aquainted with end up with common names. Most vertebrates have common names, but most invertebrates don't, except those that are popular with many people, like butterflies.

Most Crazy Ant pages state it as (Paratrechina longicornis).
Pheidole californica does notlist its common name on most pages but in wiki have nicknamed them Big headed ants,
