I was there last May and I never even smelled pot in the air, let alone being aproached to buy weed which I have had happen in Mexico.
Although I'm sure it is common in Jamaica to find people smoking, I did not experience it.
It may have to do with "trafficing" more than dealing, big difference.

As a US citizen you are still bound to our laws and it is illegal for you to smoke dope over there. I believe that is mentioned in your passport if I remember correctly.They usually do not bust people for it as that would be shooting their tourist trade in the foot.

I dont think it is legal to smoke marijuana in Jamaica. I was there last summer and trust me, it is not legal.

Itis illegal there, but they tend to look the other way. However, if you buy weed, the person who sold it to yu can turn you in and get a reward. Not sure exactly how it works, but I do know that it is illegal.
