G'day dubkid60,
Thank you for your question.
I would pick something that you look good in and makes an impression. Firstly, I would think what sort of impression you are trying to make and pick a costume that makes it. Look at the schools website or brochures and figure out what the people in those are wearing. That will suggest how the acting school considers as its typical students and you will want to look as if you will fit in.
Choose the clothing you want to wear and make sure it is clean and ready. Think about the hair products and grooming as well. Good actors use their physical impression and grooming to sell a role. You should do the same.
Finally, have a different set of clothhes in the car in case the clothes you have brought aren't suitable. These should also be clean but different from your first set.
I enclose sources for your reference.
Break a leg.

As an acting student myself I can totally symapthize with the ordeal of choosing an outfit for an audition. Wear something comfortable that you can move in. Also remember to keep it neutral so that way you can slip into a character more easily versus if you were trying to play Hamlet in baggy jeans and a t-shirt that said Jesus is my homeboy..lol. Good luck with the audition!

How about a man's sport coat. I would dress casual. Something comfortable.Don't wear a tie.(Brad Pitt doesn't wear a tie). And he goes to movie premeres. Remember "Columbo" that series that played for years.(Peter Falk) I read a article about him. He was going to audition for the main part(detective). Well he was caught in a rain storm.I think his car broke down. And he wore this hashed out old black overcoat. When he got there. He did not have time to change his clothing. To prepare for the audition.
When he gave his audition in his old black coat. The producers or whoever loved it so much.Because he looked so unique. They chose him immediently. And liked the old coat affect, and a old clunker to drive in.That he really did have. Well instant success. You will be great,if your good they will like you the way you are. Good Luck!

Don't wear anything too distracting, don't up stage yourself with a flowered shirt. Darker colours definately. Wear shoes or trainers that are comfortable for you and that dont make a moise when you walk- it'll sound twice as loud in there!! MOST of all, feel relaxed, not self-conscious. It is not the same as going for an office/job interview, so wear something your feel comfortable.
A strong neutral.... good luck XXX

I guess wear basic colours, nothing too bright, or distracting. Make sure you don't wear any shirts or t-shirts with writing or flashy pictures on them, as this is very distracting to the auditioners. Good Luck. Also, remember that they want to see you do well, so you don't need to be afraid. Don't think about getting accepted, just thing about going to perform. Don't treat it as an audition, treat it as an opportunity for you to perform.
Lots of Luck. ;)

Dress like it was a job interview. That is what it is. So dress up like you are going there for a job. Treat them with respect and work with them. If they give you ideas and different ways to try what you have given them, listen. They want to see if you are direct-able. So listen to what they say. Relax, and as always, just make sure to tell the story.
