Then my dream of living in a self-sustained environment must have been realized. Millions of dollars would be nice, but for me, true satisfaction and empowerment would come from growing my own food, harnessing my own energy and purifying my own water (and perhaps even producing enough of each to share with my neighbors).

It didn't take me very long out of college to discover that working 40 hours a week is a slow suicide. You know what the most disappointing aspect of this question is? It is asked as if it were pure fantasy.

Yes, some of you out there love going to work and your jobs are both fulfilling and meaningful, and to all you health care providers, fire-fighters and scientists I say, kudos! You're going a bang-up job. But, most of us work like dogs to keep civilization as we know it afloat and are paid next to nothing for it. Any surplus we earn is wasted on frivolous leisures to help ease the pain of a wasted life - cable tv, cigarettes, booze & junk food.

This question wasn't asked for you, Mr. and Mrs. we love our jobs; it was directed toward the burger-flipping, garbage collecting, Walmart-greeting, data-inputing sorry lot of us that need to get out of this brutal system and find something else.

So, to make a long answer short, I would be standing in my greenhouse, talking to my tomato plants, and never again would I be jealous of a BMW-driving doctor, because I would know that I was just as happy as he was.

My plan is to be independently wealthy before the age of 30, so that I can travel the world. I'd be in Japan, helping my family and building churches. Maybe a shopping spree or three.

I would be able to go back to school full-time without having to work full-time. After that, I would just relax and travel the world.
