The NWC USB adapter is specifically designed to work ONLY FOR the Nintendo DS & the upcoming Nintendo Wii (potentially).

The software used to run the USB adapter is specifically designed only to recognize the Nintendo DS (& potentially the Wii when it's released) through system's username / nickname. No other WiFi capable devices will be able to access the USB adapter for online use.

If you have a WiFi router that you have access to, you would not need the NWC USB adapter to get your WiFi capable devices online.
