WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT THIS? doesnt it shock you to your core? i felt that. *sigh*. a model lost her life to her unhealthy/(some might say its good) job.
here is the report:
"A young Uruguayan model died of heart failure while participating in a fashion show during Fashion Week in Montevideo (Uruguay), according to officials at the hotel where the show was held.
22 year-old Luisel Ramos felt ill after walking the catwalk, fainted on her way to the dressing room and died in spite of the medical attention she received from a mobile hospital unit, sources told EFE. The doctors who treated her diagnosed her with heart failure.
The young woman's father told police that the model had gone several days without eating."

Wow. I thought models were just naturally skinny. I didn't think they actually starved themselves; I figured they just exercised and ate healthy. :( That's sad that some really do starve themselves.

This is the first I've heard about it, and I must say it sounds dodgy. The article doesn't read like something one would expect to see from a legitimate news source, at least -- things like
"a fashion show during Fashion Week in Montevideo (Uruguay), according to officials at the hotel where the show was held."
The use of parentheses instead of just saying "Montevideo, Uruguay," and the vague location of "the hotel where the show was held" send up some red flags to me. Also these nameless "officials" (Hotel officials? Police officials?) are often a sign of a false story.
I don't think I'd buy it unless the story turns up from a more legitimate source. So far a google seach doesn't turn anything up that seems legit -- sites with names like "modelsblog" are the only sources coming up.

I find that it is really unhealthy. The modelling line is no longer just a profession. It is also a line where you compete to be the skinniest. But I also heard that some fashion brands ban skinny models as it does not reflect the healthy image they want.
If it is eating salads, fruits and drinking plain water, it is still acceptable as long no junk food. But starving for several days is suicidal act.

Not to be mean, but what the heck do you think is gonna happen what you don't eat for 5 days?!? I think its stupid, yeah, I have a little jelly here and there, but I would rather be a little overweight, than stick thin. Duh!

my male friend told that he doesn't like model type because they look like 14 years old boys,even in Spain they don't allowed anymore model slim like that,if they don't starve them self to death,they do drugs,and sooner or later they will end up death.

5 days wont kill anyone....i would guess she was anorexic all the time which usually ends in heart failure

it doesnt shock me because most of the cases with bulimea and anorexia nervosa that we are counseling are models....but i havent heard about this... thanks for the info... i will print it and put it in our files in the counseling center... by the way .... can i have the website of this?
