On the long handled sponge idea, I found one at Wal-Mart for about 3 bucks. Look in the same area that they keep the loofahs and bath sponges.

I fold up a towel, lenght-wise,and put lotion in the middle. Then I carefully take the towel ends in each hand, being mind full not to spill the lotion out from the middle. Once I feel the wetness of the lotion, I move the towel in a back and forth motion, like I'm drying my back.

Oh yes. There is an applicator that you can buy. Most small drug stores sell them. You can probably look it up on the web under lotion applicators. They come with replacement pads so when you wear one out, you can just put a new one on. I have found they are great for appling sunscreens also. Good luck on your search
