1. Take your time and do not rush your approach and shots.
2. Focus on hitting your targets (boards, dots and arrows).
3. Practice and concentration makes for a steady game.
4. Pick your bowling equipment carefully and don't think that high performance equipment is better for all skill levels. Most beginners buy expensive pro quality stuff thinking it will make them better bowlers. A $75 bowling ball works just as good as a $250 one. Depends on the bowler.
5. Build muscle memory when practicing by trying to copy your same armswing and hand release every time. That way, you will be able to deliver the ball and train your eyes/arm/hand to react the same way every shot.
6. Have fun and don't torture yourself trying too hard to be good. I'd be more happier being lucky than good! Bad shots or game happen and we learn to improve ourselves from those moments.
7. Don't try to copy the professional styles. Remember, they started out as amateurs and took years to fine tune to their body styles and comfort levels. If you manage to build your own bowling delivery and style, it's yours and you built it from they way you feel comfortable bowling.

When you bowl, the best tip I can give you is to put some spin on the ball. When you are about to send the ball down the lane, snap your wrist so that you make the ball begin to spin in mid-air. Once the ball hits the lane, if you put enough spin on the ball, no matter where you bowl the ball, it should always head down the middle.

I'm definitely not the best bowler, but some of the simplest advice I can give you is to make sure put you ring finger and middle finger in the holes for balance, and aim for the arrows on the floor instead of the pins themselves...
