i have dishnetwork and i want tivo. even tho i no they have a dvr but just asking

TIVO is just a name brand of DVRs (Digital Video Recorders). You can get a stand alone TIVO box as the others have suggested. Or you can purchase a Dish compatable DVR. I have directv and at times they will have promotions where they give away the DVR if you agree to sign up for another year of service. I looked on the Dish website and cannot find any prices for their DVR models. Call Dish and ask them how much for a DVR receiver, if you tell them that Directv gives them for free they might give you one. Depends how well you play them! =)

Yes. In fact, TiVo and DirecTV have severed their relationship at this point. TiVo is moving to Comcast. But you can always buy a TiVo, regardless of what satelite or cable service you use. You can hook a TiVo up to just about everything. Although there are benefits to the integrated TiVo services (as used to be available with DirecTV).

By the way, a TiVo is a specific brand of a DVR ("Digital Video Recorder"). What you probably really care about is having DVR functionality, not so much in specifically having a TiVo.

Wise choice. You can definately buy a stand alone tivo box. They are awesome. You will Loooooooove tivo.
Go to tivo.com and go from there or you can call 1 877 289 8486 and they will go over it with you over the phone.
