Hardly anyone could read at that time...so who would know???? Also, never heard of that king.

King Cnut also known as Canute was the last of the Norse Kings, in this case Danish. He reigned for 20 years and was considered an OK king because in that time there was peace and prosperity.

I believe he died of natural causes, anyway he is buried in Winchester.

He was followed by Harold who didn't do so well against William Duke of Normandy

I have read that he executed several of his courtiers, but I have never heard that he dispatched them for dyslexia.

Additional - Ohhh ... I get it now. There are related words in both Old Norse and Latin, so it could have been around in Cnut's time.
