Actually, its been shown that the overall temperature of the earth has been pretty steady over the past few decades, if not the last couple centuries. There are more studies that show that global warming is NOT happening than there are those that show that the earth is warming up.
Think about this: Most of the studies that show a temperature rise base their information on the temperatures of major cities, which due to population, development, skyscrapers and pollution, have shown an increase in temperature, but ONLY in those cities. In rural areas where the temperature has been measured, there has been shown to be a steady, if not actually DECreasing temperature over the past several decades. Also, there is all this talk of glaciers melting, yet there are thousands and thousands of glaciers around the world, some of which are increasing in size, and some of which are melting. There is no way that every glacier in the world is being monitored.
Now I'm no scientist, but I did some research on this a couple years ago at my college for an assignment, and I found this very interesting, as it goes against everything we hear on global warming thru the media.

The temperature of the Earth has only gone up 1.8 degrees in the last 100 years. If the temperature is supposed to rise steadily as you claim it will be a process involving thousands of years. (I had two years of geography and geology in college).

"The global warming rate is now almost 0.2°C per decade, and temperatures in Europe are projected to climb by a further 2 to 6.3 degrees this century, due to the build-up of greenhouse gases."
Do the math. It is also said to be due in part by solar activity.
