i just saw on a TV show that most rapists and murderers and such aim for women because they can "control" them. because they know that women will not be able to fight back.
do you think this is true right now in our society?
do a lot of people think this?
i'm just curious... sorry if you think i'm sexist...

Many men think they are able to control women through manipulation of their emotions. "Players" act like this, and women like the flattery and are often pleased by the challenge.
So many women demand that attention be strictly paid to the emotional mood that they exhibit -- these are women who demand that an attempt be made to control them -- they are asking for a manipulative challenge.
There are a few men who crazily want complete sexual control or power of life-and-death; these are the rapists and murderers. I think such men are obsessed with brute power rather than with emotional control and attraction.

Some do, of course. Some men are still in the stone age with thinking that women today are too out of control. Some guys like submission in a woman.
My husband is anti-control for a woman. We are equal, and plus my mom is as feminist as you can get!
You're not sexist--you're noting what the trend is among rapists.

Some men do, yes. They have encountered extremely passive women in their lives, and have learned that they can control those women, so they must be able to control all women. However, those of us with an IQ higher than our underwear size (not many these days) know and understand that women are human beings, and can't and shouldn't be controlled. The marginal "control" we may have over them is only an illusion, and women will eventually do whatever they want anyway.

Yep, got three brothers and spent years working with many others...yeah, they want control any way they can get it. Only the women in positions of power have any say about anything...some others just let them think they are in control while believing them to be idiots. I've seen a lot of women hurt by them and other women band against them out of sheer frustration.

Some men do. I believe you when you say that rapists and murderers aim for women for that reason. Now, I know plenty of women who will fight back and can stand up for themselves, so I know that some women can fight as hard as some men (I know one girl who is obsessed with playing full contact sports).

Yes they do try and control them. In the case of my daughters who attend college away from home and what I have just learned from them...I would say the tides are turning. Some men were just raised to behave that way. Women shouldn't tolerate it. The more women show that they won't tolerate that kind of treatment and leave their butts by themselves, maybe they'll get the hint.

They want to but its not easy. There are so many ways to do it, Control by money, by physical force, by using children, by medication, etc etc. I suppose some women can be controlled by men, some can't.

well, i dont reall see that many women taking self defence classes that much, im not being sexes or all, im just saying that men think they can over power women cuz they dont know how to protect thmeselves
