Well....you don't really have details out here. First, is the felon male or female? Are they out "flat time" or are they on a probation/parole program?

One thing for sure: occupations in law, politics, medicine, banking and retail (convenience stores) are out. Security work in any sector is also void. Clerical / office occupations understandably would be wary hiring former prison residents, so avoid mentioning you resided in "a gated community" on the resume.

Options really come down to either manual labor work: construction or factory work....at least until the "felon" can finish a vocational school in some mechanical trade. I've known of one felon who went to school, got a insurance agent's license---and now lives quite well, working in the insurance field.

Being the former resident of a "secure gated community" for several months/years doesn't help getting a job...but that is NOT to mean it's impossible. Like rehabilitation: it soley rests with the "felon" now free--you either sink or swim (preferably the latter done legitimately).

Jobs For Felons In Illinois

Some good answers here. I would add the type of Felony and the crime. Are we talking a First Class Felonious Sexual Assault charge or embezzlement or what? Has he held a steady job since then? The Felony will follow you for life unless you get it expunged or apply for a pardon. For the expungement, contact a lawyer. The pardon process starts by writing a letter to the Texas Board of Pardons (its called something like that). Personally, I might hire a felon depending on the crime, its disposition, and how far away it was (ten years, nonviolent felony with no other blemishes and he has a shot). I will be honest and tell you that he would not get the job if an equal applicant with a clean record also applied. Why should I risk my job or bonus on him?

try an on line jobs. You can pick your own hours and there is no back ground check. There is no limit to how many on line jobs you can have too.
