can anyone give me an example of a monopolistically competitive firm? or product?

I would think, any corporation that is a monopoly. Like Bell was before it was broken up into many different companies.

The word competitive would come into it, if they also tried to stay that way deliberately, and refused to let smaller companies have any share of the market.

Microsoft, British Telecom, Another example is the United States Post Office which has a legally protected monopoly on nonurgent letter mail delivery.

And please, Coca-Cola is not a monoply thanks to a littlecompany called Pepsi.
