Sea-Monkeys! They are very low in maintenance. It is easy to raise them. You will be able to teach them tricks, travel with you, and do other fun stuff. Best of all, they live 2 years and if they are dead, you can bring them back to life!

I think a nice fuzzy house cat is the answer! From a kitten teach it to stay indoors, use a litter box and cuddle with you when you come home. Lots of cats are very happy to laze around for hours on end and they do not eat very much at all. Also you can make toys with any odds and ends you have around. Make anything that hands, swings and jingles etc.
The second idea is a Guinea Pig. Very nice clean pets that don't need any more attention than a cat however, it does need a cage to confine it when you're out.
Last idea makes me shudder but popular now and definitely needs little attention is a snake. A few hours of play after feeding is about all a snake needs but they are awful kissers!
Cheers and Good Luck.

I would say a cat because they are independent and do not mind being left alone for a while. Also try and get a cat not a kitten because if you get a kitten they will want to play all the time until they become a cat and that will be hard for you. If you cant buy a cat I would suggest peerhaps a bird, fish, guniea pigs or even a rabbit but with the guniea pigs and rabbits they will need to be checked everyday and their cages to be cleaned weekly so if you are willing to do that then they are for you. Plus with the cat you may need to clean the kitty litter every day or two but good luck with what ever you choose

NO cat or dog if your busy! Get something that you can keep in a closed space like a tank. If you want something low maintance get a lil plant. All you have to do is water it. Maybe a lil nutrients once in a blue moon dont put to much cause it can harm the plant.(you wont feel bad if the plant dies)

If you want something that is more living i would recomend green anoles(small lizards) get 2 of them. There low maintance they need light during the day, spray water in the moring with a mistyfier. and feed them crickes once a day or every 2 days.(if they dont eat them your feeding them to much) They change color from dark gray to light green. (light green means there happy, gray mean sick, sad or a sleep) They are very cute when u let them run on the floor. When you first start handling them they wont like it but if ur gentle they will learn to trust u and even fall asleep on your shoulder. However they are not capable of recognizing you or n e thing like that. Just they need to get used to human touch. Also you cant get alergic to reptiles and Lizards dont make any annoying noises.

I'd say the perfect pet for a busy college student on a budget is a fish. They do not need a ot food so you will not have to buy much of it. Basically all you need to buy is the fish, tank, and water. And you do not have to take it out to go to the bathroom. You do not need anyone to watch it if you leave for a weekend.

I think a turtle would be an easy pet. It is easy to take care of and it will not retaliate if you cant play with it every day. Animals like a dog, cat, or rodent can get angry and tear things up or use your floor for a bathroom.

If you're busy all of the time or hardly home, a dog is NOT the choice for you. Dogs need attention and love and someone who isn't with them alot or have the time to train them shoudln't get one. Cats are more independant and are fine with being left alone so I'd suggest a cat or fish.

I had a betta in college. Get him a 5 gallon, heated tank and they make funny little companions.
Hermit Crabs are good too. They are nocternal and bump their stuff around, so it might keep you awake.
Turtles need space. If you share a small apartment, it might not work. They're good pets if you do get one. Look up Russian Tortoises. They stay small and are vegetarians.
How about a carnivorous plant? Not really cuddly, but a conversation starter for sure.

Good luck

A rock, seriously. I'm in college and if I had a living pet to worry about on top of everything else, it'd die by the end of the semester and I'd feel horrible. Even plants I'd find a problem. So unless you know you can devote enough time, energy, and money to keep the pet alive, then you'd shouldn't bother.
