Going to go to school? A Republican I know wanted to defraud the State of California out of non-resident tuition at U.C.Berkeley, so he contacted a friend in CA and arraigned to start receiving mail there a year ahead of time. Then made a trip out and got a library card and driver's license.

Worked for him. Works for the "Governor" now.

You have to go there and live the required time.

To be a resident of Nevada a person must have lived there for at least 6 months. To do this a person must obtain some sort of home (even a hotel room rented for a 6 months will work). They must show proof that they are intending to live there, a driver's license will do. And they must physically be at their home in the new state at least 51% of the time.

The exception is that college students enrolled from out of state remain out of state citizens until they fulfill the residency requirements without going to college.

My state college is the University of New Hampshire. It says on their website that you need to be living in New Hampshire for 12 months prior to the term you are registering for. You are usually considered a resident of a state if you rent/own a place, register a car (if you have one), and get your drivers license/ state ID.

Your best bet is to go to the website of the college you want to go to and check out their residency requirements.

You have to move to the state with the intent to stay there, meaning you take all of your things into the state, get a job there, register to vote there, get a license there, and file taxes as a resident, etc.

I believe you have to be a resident for 6 months. You need something like a rent receipt. anything that proves you lived there I guess you could have a friend that lives there and just end yourself a letter to there address. I would think they would have some kind of clause to help you out.

In Ohio it's 6 months. Why don't you input "(state) residency requirements for students?" Residency usually varies from state to state. The sites will either tell you the requirements or let you know who to call to find out. I bet if you called the school, they'd know just don't give them your name.
