If you have been through couples counseling, what was your take on it? What exercises did you have to do between sessions? I am doing it now and have only been to one session. I just don't know exactly how much to share with my counseler and what I am supposed to do on my own, with my spouse? What types of questions did your counseler ask?

I've been to couples counseling, but there are different reasons for being there. You don't say if you're trying to save/fix/improve your relationship, deal with family issues, or what you're trying to do by going to counseling together. Usually the counselor should help you identify why you are there, and what you're trying to accomplish. Based on that, the counselor should be asking both of you questions about the situation and you should be listening to each others answers. The counselor might also see each of you alone to see if you really are there for the same reasons. I hope it helps you.
