You don't want "Merry Christmas" used in retail, you won't let your kids say the pledge of allegiance in school, and you want the word God erased from anything to do with the government. Well, if that's the case, then you should all BURN your money too, because every denomination says, "In God We Trust."

Money, the corporate institutions that acquire it, and the political/social means of how it's distributed, are the Gods housed in the Pantheon of Socialism.
This is the belief structure of most libs; their God, and the doxology by which they worship.

Why are you so hateful and stereotypical? Merry Christmas was eliminated from retail stores because It only covers a Christian Holiday and forgets about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and New Years which I assume you celebrate too. There's more retail power by targeting all groups, not just Christians. Or do you think that your Christmas is more important than everyone Else's holidays, and we should just forget them?
The Christian phrase "Christ is the reason for the season" is just plain wrong. Judaism and Hanukkah have been around long before Christians and Christ.
Did you ever think that maybe a lot of people are getting tired of having the Christian agenda shoved down their throats? I certainly am. Times and beliefs have changed since the Pledge of Allegiance was written and the dollar bill was printed with In God We Trust.
As huge as the population is in this world, It is important that we respect and acknowledge everyone's beliefs, not just Christians.

First off, quit lumping all liberals together like that. We are all individuals. Not all liberals smoke pot, eat organicly grown vegetables, and disbelieve in God. Just like all conservatives are not war-mongers, Dittoheads, and think that industry can pollute the earth to give us cheap products and jobs.
For the most part, liberals agree with Thomas Aquinas in that something created us and that something is God or a god. What many liberals object to is the belief in the Bible which has been censored, edited and put to evil uses by humans for thousands of years.
I think it is rude to just say, "Merry Christmas." There are other religious holidays celebrated at the same time and they should be respected as much as Christmas.
As far a money goes, when was the last time you actually used currency? Nearly everybody uses credit or debit cards. They aren't handed a paycheck because it is directly deposited in their bank account. When it comes time to pay off the credit cards, they use a check. Does your checks say "In God We Trust"? What about your credit card? Is it on your Visa bill?

You are a little confused it wasn't Liberals who started all this questioning of God It was Atheists one woman started it. I don't believe saying Merry Christmas could hurt anyone even the Atheists This is not a religious saying to religious people including my self it is the time of the birth of Christ. To a lot of other people it just is a holiday they can celebrate and have a tree and buy gifts for each other. I read some of the answers and my heart goes out to them because of their beliefs of so many things. But no one can push their beliefs on anyone else people have to find their way by themselves in directing their lives. And I wish them good luck in what ever direction they go.

Once upon a time people in this country understood why religion and government needed to remain seperate.
US currency had the phrase "In God We Trust" added to our money in the 1950's ; it never used to say that prior to the cold war. Likewise , the Pledge of allegiance, which became law after the civil war, did not originally contain the phrase 'under god'.
Our country has shifted in the past decades very far to the right ideologically. We are now very similar to Russia, and many analogies can be drawn between the USA under George Bush, and Nazi Germany. Hitler also used extreme religious rhetoric to brainwash the ignorant masses, enabling him to commit war crimes.
I recommend studying more history. Those who are ignorant of history, are doomed to repeat it.
In the words of John Lennon, " God is a concept by which we measure our pain. "
The Holy Bible is the most editted book in human history.... not objective, nor holy in the least.
Do you also realize, as an aside, that Islam recognizes Joshua (Jesus Christ) as a prophet too?

Not all people (even democrats) think this way. Don't be so angry. I think it's silly also.
Ya know what I say if we have free speech in this country why can't I wish someone a Merry christmas? If the school has the flag waving...why can't the kids say the pledge of allegiance to it?
As far as God being printed on govt Documents. If you ask me it is more of a tradition now and something that alludes to hope. So why not keep the word God on govt documents? Isn't it everyones God?

That's right: church and state combined has proved throughout history to be a ruinous affair. After all, our founding fathers left England for just that reason: to escape religious persecution. And more people have been killed in the name of religion than for any other cause in the history of mankind. But alas, I can't burn my money because I need it to pay taxes to finance the war your boy W got us into by lying to us and hiding behind the flag and pandering to the religious right. I also need my dough to pay more taxes to help erase the trillion dollar deficit Bush created from a trillion dollar surplus.
But you should burn your Political Sicence books, since it's obvious you don't read them and haven't learned a thing from history.

As usual republicans are trying to lump all democrats with a few people of the very far left... Why can't you talk about real issues?, heath care, prescription drugs, unfair trade, energy independence, Iraq (and how we got there), what has happened to our tax base and why social security is running out, pollution, global warming etc... Republicans can only seem to hit and run with wedge issues, because they can't debate on "real issues", face it, your party is corrupt at the very least and probably guilty of treason... So I'll put it to republicans again, "what happened to 5 trillion dollars?, How could your leaders possibly run up such a deficit in just 6 years?.

another generalization made.
I am liberal, but not so much that I dont want to be able to say merry christmas wherever I am, and I think its one of the dumbest things Ive ever heard trying to take Under God out of the pledge. Things like that are extremely radical. and not nessicarily liberal.

I consider my self some what liberal, but do not feel that way. I also am on shaky ground with the whole God thing. It doesn't mean I want everyone to bend to my way of thinking. I have a voice and I use it everytime I vote.
If you didn't vote, you have no right to b i t c h.
